Products

Two house elevator systems for two- to four-story homes. In a power outage, both go down to the lowest floor on battery backup and open their doors. Installed to the US residential elevator code, ASME A17.1, with UL-certified controls.

Roomier cab

Hydraulic home elevators

For the same shaft, hydraulic leaves room for a larger, taller cab. Its pump and controls go in a small machine room or cabinet next to the shaft.

No machine room

Traction home elevators

Traction is the quieter of the two. Its motor and brake sit at the top of the shaft, and its controls usually fit inside it too.

Self-supporting structure: no shaft needed.

Many homes were never designed for an elevator. Our self-supporting steel structure carries the elevator and forms its own shaft, so none has to be built into the house.

It works with either system, inside the house or outdoors, clad in panoramic glass or panels.

Questions

Can you add an elevator to an existing home?

Yes. Where the house has no room for a shaft, our self-supporting steel structure forms its own, inside the house or outdoors.

How much space does a home elevator need?

It depends on your house and the system you choose, so we work it out with you at the consultation. Both systems need a shallow pit, and hydraulic also needs a small machine room or cabinet next to the shaft. We make every cab to measure, from compact sizes up to 15 square feet, and up to 18 square feet in certain projects. When you need room for a wheelchair, we size the cab for it.

How many floors can it serve?

Two to four floors, with a hydraulic or a traction elevator.

How much can it carry, and how fast does it go?

From 660 to 1,000 pounds, depending on the cab size. Both systems travel at up to 40 feet per minute, the top speed the US residential elevator code allows.

How many doors can the cab have?

One, two or three. Two doors can be on opposite walls or on walls at a right angle, and three doors take one wall each.

Can a home elevator be glass or panoramic?

Yes. The cab walls can be glass, and our self-supporting structure can be clad in laminated glass for a panoramic look. We also work with materials you choose, from your own marble or wood floor to a taller cab and doors.

How long does it take?

Delivery takes about 12 weeks, and installation about 2 weeks.

What happens in a power outage?

Both systems go down to the lowest floor on battery backup and open their doors.

Is a house elevator the same as a residential elevator?

Yes. House, home and residential elevator all mean the same thing: an elevator built for a private home, like ours, made to measure for each house.

Hydraulic or traction: which is right for my house?

For the same space, hydraulic always gives you the larger cab, and it needs a small machine room or cabinet next to the shaft. Traction needs no machine room and is very quiet. See each one in 3D: hydraulic or traction.
